Who is CanLit for Kids Books?

CanLit for Kids Books Ltd. is a wholesaler of Canadian books, established by a team of retired teacher-librarians. CanLit specializes in addressing the need for high quality Canadian books for elementary, middle and secondary school libraries across the country.

CanLit offers quality library book selection expertise to schools and educational organizations. CanLit is a proud member and supporter of such organizations as The Canadian Children’s Book Centre, and the Ontario Library Association.

The head office of CanLit is located in Sidney, British Columbia on beautiful Vancouver Island.

By subscribing to CanLit For Kids & Teens book packages, you will be confident in knowing that the books you receive are the very best that are available from a variety of Canadian publishers. The content is current and relevant to today’s students.

All of our book titles have been read and reviewed by qualified teacher-librarians & teachers. Only those titles deemed age and content appropriate are recommended to be included in one of our book packages. Your guarantee of quality.

How does CanLit work?

School libraries have the option of subscribing to our service to order 1, 2 or 3 pre-selected book packages (retail value of approximately $320.00 each). Packages are shipped in September, January and April of each year. Orders can be placed at any time during the school year.

All packages (K5/6, K7, Middle or Secondary) can be customized to meet individual school needs.

Each package contains:

• At least 20 newly published books (with a mix of fiction, non-fiction and picture books). Many of these are high quality hard cover books. Picture books and non-fiction are often hard cover (where possible) and novels are generally paper back.
• Free teacher notes and summaries of each title, useful for introducing books or developing themes (not included with the secondary package).
• Free support materials such as posters, bookmarks, spine labels, author biographies, pamphlets and even some autographed books on occasion.
• Free MARC records available as a download from our website.

Option 1: Subscribe to/Order all three packages for the school year and receive a 20% discount.

Option 2: Subscribe to/Order 1 or 2 of the 3 packages for the school year and receive a 15% discount.
